Construction/Insulation

Perlite plays an important role in a wide variety of construction-related uses including: an aggregate in lightweight insulating concrete and plaster; loose fill insulation for concrete masonry blocks, cavity walls, and a variety of specialty applications. We do not use any chemicals during or after production making it a green product.

Depending on design conditions, reductions in heat transmission of 50% or more can be obtained when our Masonry Fill Perlite is used in the hollow cores of concrete block or cavity type masonry walls.  With its foam-like cellular internal structure makes expanded perlite an efficient, low density insulator. It’s non-combustible, and loose-flowing nature is ideal for filling odd-shaped spaces while yielding superior dynamic thermal performance. Another typical application for our Masonry Fill Perlite is chimney lining. Typical construction/insulating grade is our Masonry Fill Grade which runs between a +12 and +16 mesh screen. We do offer different particle sizes depending on user’s specifications.

Masonry Fill Perlite Thermal Design

Our concrete perlite may be used in lightweight tile mortar, statuary, decorative stone, gas-fireplace logs and floor fills. Perlite concrete is not suited for structural or load bearing uses, it offers many advantages beyond its light weight. Perlite Concrete provides better noise reduction and thermal insulating properties than conventional concrete. Other applications are pool bases, and tank insulation.
